Fortuna, historically has enjoyed a low crime rate, which is about half of what the state average tends to be. Certainly credit goes to our professional and dedicated police staff (of which I am proud), but also to the sense of community constantly displayed by our Fortuna Citizens.

The Fortuna Police Department has a long and proud history of working side-by-side with both residents and businesses to fight crime and keep our neighborhoods, schools, and commercial areas safe in order to enhance Fortuna's high quality of life. The community and the police work together as partners.

Simply put, we cannot do this important work alone. We need your help. So help us by being involved, by being vigilant in preventing crime, by locking your house and car, and by watching out for your neighbors and reporting suspicious activity whenever you see it. By working together we can make a difference!

Our mission is to provide quality, cost-effective police services to everyone who lives in, works in, or visits Fortuna. We strive to accomplish that mission through community involvement and innovative use of our resources. Moreover, it is our goal to carry out our work employing the highest levels of honesty, integrity, and compassion while treating all persons with dignity and respect.
