It is time to fix those leaky faucets and running toilets! With the sewer rates being based on the amount of water that is consumed, now is the time to take care of that extra water you will be charged for.
Even small leaks can waste significant amounts of water. A faucet dripping one drop per second will waste 2700 gallons per year. A constant drip can go through as much as 100 gallons a day!
Check for toilet leaks. A leaky toilet can waste as much as 200 gallons per day. Put a little food coloring into the tank. If the color trickles into the bowl, there is a leak and repairs are needed.
