Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Police Department offers police response 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Department also has an active Citizens on Patrol Program, and various opportunities exist for community volunteers and student interns to play an active role in supporting public safety efforts.
Mission
The Mission of the Fortuna Police Department is to enhance the quality of life within the City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, reduce the fear of crime, and maintain order. The Department is committed to accomplishing its mission to protect the lives and property of all citizens, to maintain public trust, and to enforce the laws impartially. The Fortuna Police Department will combat crime utilizing modern crime prevention strategies including deterrence and the relentless pursuit of criminals.
