Overview
Often we take our water for granted. Providing safe drinking water is a very intricate business that takes a dedicated staff of professionals to maintain the system throughout the year.

The City of Fortuna provides water to approximately 11,909 individuals in our service area. The Water Division is responsible for providing a safe and reliable water supply for domestic use and fire protection. The City operates a water system which produces over 500 million gallons per year serving approximately 5,300 customers. Approximately 42 miles of water lines are also maintained along with 5 reservoirs, 8 pump stations, 5 well fields, and a treatment facility.

The Water Division is also responsible for:

  • Distribution system flushing
  • Installation and maintenance of water meters
  • Distribution system maintenance and repairs
  • Hydrant flow testing and maintenance
  • Water/Sewer service calls
